The Ancient Egyptians & Israelites

Ethnic Makeup of the Ancient Egyptians, Israelites, and Hyksos Ethnic Makeup of the Ancient Egyptians, Israelites, and Hyksos A comparative look at the peoples of the Nile and the Levant in the New Kingdom period (18th–19th Dynasties). Ethnic Makeup of the Ancient Egyptians The Egyptians of the New Kingdom (ca. 1550–1189 BC) were primarily a Northeast African population rooted in the Nile Valley. Their features reflected a mixture of indigenous Saharan, Nubian, and Nile Delta ancestry. Genetic studies of royal mummies and skeletal remains reveal a population connected to both Sub-Saharan Africa and the ancient Near East, consistent with Egypt’s geographic position as a crossroads of Africa and Asia. Royal families often intermarried with foreign princesses to cement alliances. For example, Amenhotep III married women from Mitanni and later Ramesses II married Hittite royalty. This resulted in foreign admixture at the highest levels of society, though the g...

A Christmas Gift

Shalom family. I hope your holidays were filled with love, togetherness, and thanksgiving for all YHVH has given. We're fresh off the holiday season and between my more in-depth posts I wanted to share a little Christmas story with you all.

I've always been fascinated with the meaning of names but particularly my own, Adrien. I've researched the etymology on it several times throughout my life. The most common meaning given is that it's of Baltic origin and means "of the black/dark water or sea". A little anticlimactic for me personally. But this was the area of the Adriatic Sea along the silk road trade routes where vast amounts of wealth traveled to and fro.

Which would explain the alternate meaning associated with the name which is "rich". That one I don't mind so much. A spooky fact about my name is that, according to Behind The Name dot com, the name day (yes, names have dates associated with them) for Adrian/Adrien is September 8th which just happens to be my birthday.

Now that you have that context let's go back in time to December of 2024. My wife and I received a text from my mother about her mother's health issues and how she was being kept in the hospital as a result. My wife, God bless her, showed absolutely no hesitancy in insisting that we get to my hometown to make sure we are there to support our mom and grandma while she was going through this health challenge. So we did.

We stayed for a number of days. It was about two week 'til Christmas. My grandmother made it out the hospital after a successful procedure, thank God. My brother and his family also made their way down that week and we spent a few days enjoying togetherness. My father has been retired from some years due to glaucoma virtually taking his functional vision. He spends much of his time now learning about Bitcoin and encouraging others to invest.

It was him, my brother and I on the couch and my father started this documentary called God Bless Bitcoin. In the documentary there were several references to the Bible. In all honesty, I was not all that intrigued by the show but took it as an opportunity to relate concepts about Bitcoin back to the Bible. This led to a passionate conversation between my father and I in which my brother took as cue to leave the room lol.

Nearing the end of the conversation my father stated, "I'm a Bitcoin evangelist" to which I replied "I am an evangelist for Christ". We laughed and went on about our night. The next day my son was watching videos of gameplay for Warhammer 40K. On the top corner of the screen it had the user displays with the usernames for the players. I noticed one name that caught my curiosity. It said "Gadriel". I found it interesting because it sounded like Gabriel but with a 'd' instead of 'b'.

Many angel names end with 'el' in Hebrew as 'el' in a name denotes something related to God. Gabriel meaning "God is my strength". Or Michael meaning "who is like God". So out of curiosity I took the G off the name and googled "Adriel". Lo and behold it was an actual name. And one found in the Old Testament in 2 Samuel. The meaning of the name is "flock of God" or "follower of God". My wife told me she made a joke about my name being Adriel in the past but I didn't recall that. She said (I'm summarizing) she believes that some things cross my path but I don't receive them until I'm spiritually ready.

I immediately felt a connection to the name. As if the LORD Himself saw me and acknowledged me. As if all the seeking and praying and revelation had led me to this particular moment. A moment of rebirth. And while I'm obviously no Abraham or Israel, I feel a sense of connection to them in finding my identity in God. And I feel as if Adriel is the perfect expression of that.

Fake News (It's Deeper Than Donald Trump)

Shalom, family. If there is one undeniable thing to credit to the current President of the United States it's his ability to make a headline, be it "good" or "bad". America is hypnotically polarized between idol gazing or hate watching his every move. He is never short of a quotable one-liner or catchphrase that becomes meme-worthy material.  One particular Trump-ism that seemed to stick in this cultural & political climate is "fake news." And while many of us use it ironically, I can't help but acknowledge the timing of this catchphrase as spiritually significant. A hallmark of the current age. What do I mean by that? Well, for you saints who are into eschatology (end-times prophecy) you are probably already aware of the discussions that are being held in practically every religious space at the moment about the last days. I would say with the quickening and escalation of world events and catastrophes that even the secular spaces have tapped i...

The End is Near Part 1: End Of The Age

Where Are We on the Biblical Timeline? Where Are We on the Biblical Timeline? Understanding time, prophecy, and God’s big picture plan in light of Scripture and history. The Big Framework 2 Peter 3:8 says that “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” Many Bible students take this to mean that human history unfolds in a pattern of seven thousand-year “days” that parallel the seven days of creation. Six days of human labor and history, followed by a seventh “Sabbath day” of rest — the millennial reign of Christ. Where Are We Now? According to the Hebrew calendar, the year is currently 5785 (as of 2025). If the calendar is accurate, humanity is approaching the close of the sixth “day.” That would place us near the threshold of the seventh millennium, often associated with the reign of Christ on Earth. The Margin of Error Here’s where it gets interesting. Scholars and historians...

American Christian Privilege and the Tribulation of the Saints

Shalom, family. I want to take some time now to reflect on some harsh realities. Realities that should force us to think more deeply about our faith and pray more fervently. As much as I'm sure you probably aren't all too enthused about another article of bad news, let me tell you that very attitude within itself is a privilege to have.  Lately, I've been watching video coverage of heart wrenching persecution in countries like Syria and Congo. If you haven't been informed, there has been a massive uptick in Christian persecution in these places.  When I say persecution, I don't mean how many American pastors and citizens use the term. This is not about refusing to officiate gay weddings or not baking cakes for lesbians. I'm talking about what the Bible calls tribulation. Jesus states in Matthew 24:9 "They will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake." This is something that is bar...
